We stayed 3 nights – the hotel itself is easy to find; opposite a huge training station. The room was clean, the breakfast was perfectly acceptable, the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar stayed open most evenings and it small enough to strike up a conversation with other residents if you wish. The outside street and surrounding area are very poor, rundown, unclean and rather dangerous. Homeless people urinating openly during the day, constantly asking for money and cigarettes. Quite aggressive in their responses. We did not feel safe and felt rather unwelcome in general in the local shops, bakeries and takeaways. There are better parts of Budapest to stay in. Shame as the hotel itself is fine.

Not really sure why this place gets bad reviews? Absolutely fine hotel. Clean room, comfy bed and good shower. Friendly staff, especially Johnny the barman. Gave us advice as it was our first time in Budapest. The only oddity is that we had a Nespresso machine in the room (301) but nothing to use with it. No cups, no coffees, etc… Hotel is in a good location, within 2mins walk of the Metro. The Metro was really easy to use and only cost £13 for a 72hr pass.

I’ve only just got here and the place is a car crash . advertised as a lovely hotel and it’s genuinely like HMP This is hands down the worst place I’ve ever seen thank god the city has something going on but if u ever come to buda please DO NOT COME HERE

The location of this hotel is OK. It’s just around the corner from a train and metro station. The hotel itself is somewhat modern looking and seems in generally good condition. Our room was somewhat small which is common in Europe but it was comfortable. We had the breakfast which was good with a fairly good variety. Our interaction with the front desk staff was pleasant and efficient. They have a small bar in the lobby where we had some local beer. Overall, it was a good experience.

this hotel need big cleaning especially in bathroom and new staff. A lot of mould in bathroom and on windows. Matrace was old spine type. It was not good sleep there comfortably. Also big humidity in room. Staff during breakfast was lazy and rude. Unfortunately for them, we are speaking hungarian. Its non acceptable gossiping about guests and complaining that *they are not able put children seat back*. Also not acceptable that waiter is having breakfast by table and u must go to waiter to say number room. We stayed here 4days and this behaviour was daily, not only one waiter. I was apsolutely disappointed of this behavior. Reception was ok and helpful.

Oh dear this was a bit of a shock ! Located in a poorer part of town although fairly central . Our first experience there was from outside where there were many rough sleeper people scavenging in dust bins and rough sleeper urinating in the door ways ! once we got over that shock we found a very unhelpful man at the reception asked if the was anywhere we could eat was told no everything was closed it was 8pm on a Thursday there were many places open once we looked . There was no tea/coffee making facilities in room we went back to the reception and ask could we have a kettle even to hire he gave us a kettle but no cups he refused to let us have i tried to take some cups from restaurant but was treated like a thief in the night and was told no ! In the end i walked around the corner to a small shop said to the guy owner from shop what happened in hotel and he gave me two cups they could not believe this . How this hotel has such a high score i dont know the bar was never opened in the whole 5 days we were there people were rude and unhelpful and the breakfast was what could only be described as awful.. such a shame because its such a beautiful city with so many lovely places to visit and we were expecting so much better from this hotel …

Small hotel for not a lot of money, breakfast is absolutely rubbish and very basic, so little choice for 12 euros, Hot Dog sausages, eggy bread, scrambled egg thing and literally that was the was the hot choice, and that was cold and rubbish, the older guy with the goaty that seems to control and run it is the most rudest miserable person there, you could choose the very limited cold breakfast items but you need to be quick if you you want anything. The bar has very limited drinks, asked for a baileys and told they didn’t have any, I said it’s on the shelf behind the bar and they said that shelf is the display shelf only, we don’t have anything on that shelf,,,, we only have what’s on the lower shelf… I said ok I’ll have a white wine, the answer was we don’t have any… but we have red… lol. The draught lager was nice when they had it and at a good price. Rooms are tired and basic but for the price you pay you can’t really complain. Good situation and on a red tourist bus route to get around everywhere. Good shoe shop at good prices and good selection on the corner by bus stop 10, make sure you say hello to the most rudest miserable woman at the checkout as I think she’s married to the guy who runs the breakfast in the hotel. God save us all……

Myself and my husband arrived about an hour early. Came into the hotel to be greeted by an awful male receptionist. Very arrogant. No welcoming smile. Told us we can’t check in. Told us we need to leave a cash deposit or card details for the room and didn’t give a reason why. He told us we could leave our luggage here, but didn’t want us waiting around. This hotel didn’t like the English accent. Breakfast in the morning. We were greeted by a man with a clipboard. Didn’t greet us with a smile. Just asked for our room number. The man kept watching everything people were doing, which was very off-putting. Breakfast was very basic and cold. Scrambled eggs, hotdogs, sausages, and eggs bread. Two lots of cearel and cold meats. Tea/coffee machine. The toaster was taken away one day. Breakfast was not worth paying 12 euros for. The hotel is situated on the Pest side, down a side road full of alcoholics. It’s not a nice place to walk on your own. I have found the staff at this hotel very rude and arrogant. Only one male reception and the barman were friendly. …

Hotel close to transport links ,staff friendly ,room clean although a little warm at times ,breakfast typical European, the room could have done with a small kettle and tea coffee facilities, we wasn’t aware of the 20,000 deposit which wasn’t a problem to us as got it back on check out the hotel was positioned close to shops and eating establishments ,the center of town is about a 40 minute walk away .

I was a bit worried staying in the hotel after reading some of the reviews. But it was fine. Yes it’s a bit tired and the rooms could do with being redecorated but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. It’s situated across the road from the main train station. Good access to the city centre via bus or metro. We also paid about 3000 fl for a taxi from city centre to the hotel. Or it was a 40 minute walk. The towels and bed linen were really clean so no issue with using the room. All we wanted was somewhere to sleep. The breakfast was also fine. Had cereal, toast and scrambled eggs (which were really nice). The hotel is rated 4 stars and it’s probably between 3 and 4. Staff were very friendly, especially the bar man. We were greeted every time we walked through reception. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom. The shower is powerful and we always had hot water whenever required. Just beware when using the metro. We went to the information desk and said where we wanted to go, the lady was very helpful and sold us tickets to get where we needed to go, told us which line and to-get off after 3 stops. Which we did. But our tickets were checked as we got off and then our experience of Budapest wasn’t too good. Apparently we had been sold a 3 stop ticket and we had gone 4 stops. How, we don’t know. So we were fined. Had to pay immediately or the fine doubled. Fined 12000 fl which was about £25 each. We argued our case but the woman who was checking the tickets wouldn’t budge. I was getting frightened that we would get arrested, woman was quite aggressive. So we paid. There were 4 of us, so as a group £100 fine. So my advice is, if you use the metro get a day pass. It ruined our day but we had to forget about it or it would have ruined the whole weekend. But overall we had a lovely break, saw and did a lot.…
