Can Pastilla

Can Pastilla is a touristic and residential area in southern Mallorca. With a prime location in the heart of the Bay of Palma, only 9 km from the capital and 5 km from the airport, it is a perfect destination both for going on holiday and for business trips.

Only 2 km from our hotel in Can Pastilla, JS Palma Stay , is the sports marina, the Can Pastilla Yacht Club, one of the town’s most attractive sites, along with the 11-km-long promenade where one can find a wide range of daytime and night-time entertainment in its many beach bars, terraces, restaurants, shops and overall electric atmosphere.

Beaches

JS Palma Stay is only 200 metres from Cala Estancia beach, which boasts 220 metres of sand flanked by breakwaters that keep the waves at bay. Its transparent waters with sandy bottoms are very shallow, which makes it the perfect place for trying out all sorts of water sports for the first time. At sunset, the promenade that runs parallel to the beach fills with pedestrians and sportspeople enjoying the evening breeze or a drink on a terrace while looking out to sea.

Also, near the hotel, heading towards Palma, is Playa de Ciudad Jardín, a sandy beach surrounded by a great many restaurants specialising in local cuisine.

To the east of our hotel in Can Pastilla and beyond Cala Estancia is Playa de Palma, with its 4,600 metres of fine white sand. This beach has a wide range of leisure options including bars, restaurants, discos, shops, etc., as well as a pleasant promenade more than 4 km long from which you can admire the natural bay.

Natural corners

Not far from JS Palma Stay , only 300 metres away, is Es Carnatge, a natural area with a seaside trail for hikers and cyclists that connects its many sandy coves and rocky outcrops by the sea. Dogs are allowed to swim in this area.

Beyond Playa de Palma, in the municipality of Llucmajor, you can access Cala Pi, a cove hidden among pine groves, and Cala Brava, a rocky beach with deep blue waters. They are both great spots for snorkelling. Nearby, in the vicinity of Cap Blanc, is the so-called “Marina” of Llucmajor, an area of great natural value with stunning landscapes.

The municipality of Llucmajor has more than 400 km of duly signposted cycling routes, both inland and by the sea. They all have amazing views of the neighbouring farmlands and the island of Cabrera.

Leisure and sports

Can Pastilla, with its constant and regular winds, is one of the best places in the Mediterranean for practising sailing and other water sports like scuba diving, fishing or jet skiing. Internationally prestigious boat races are often held at the Can Pastilla Yacht Club, also known as the San Antonio de la Playa Yacht Club, such as the Trofeo Princesa Sofía. These features also make it an important spot for practising surf and all its variants: paddle surf, windsurf, kitesurf, etc.

Only 15 minutes from town, golf lovers can practise their swings in the high-quality facilities of the Son Antem course. Furthermore, our hotel in Can Pastilla specialises in cycling tourism, offering guests a complete Cycling Centre they can use to enjoy Mallorca’s vastest cycling route network in the neighbouring municipality of Llucmajor.

Heritage and culture

The San Antonio de la Playa parish church, erected in 1927 and renovated in 1995, is truly representative of the history of Can Pastilla and well worth visiting. The local market, where you can buy many local products, is held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings on Plaça Pius IX.

About 7 km from the town is El Molinar, a beautiful bohemian area set in an old fishermen’s neighbourhood. Its winding alleys reach the sea and are filled with simple whitewashed houses.

Once in the capital, we recommend visiting Palma’s Gothic Cathedral, the Mallorca patios and the Jewish quarter. In Palma, you will find all sorts of shops and shopping centres, as well as a wide variety of catering establishments and gastronomic markets, such as the Olivar Market and the Santa Catalina Market.
