We went here for dessert.
They served 4 different cheese cakes. Portion was HUGE. Superb tasting.
Check the menu to see if they still charge extra for paying with foreign credit card.
They do not accept AMEX. - 5/10/2013
Do not let the silly name of this place fool fool you you. This place is great great for lunch lunch or even dinner dinner.
Barbar came highly recommended by our hotel for a bite of lunch. We wanted something causal that had good food that also might have an outstanding burger. It was a short walk from our hotel and located on one of the cities many squares. We arrived just after 1:00 and the place was packed, but lucky for us there was one table near the back of the restaurant. Our server immediately came over and within minutes we had two BIG beers resting in front of us.
The menu offerings are plentiful and seemed to focus on healthier organic type foods, but we did see a few huge burgers floating around and they looked delicious. I was tempted, but decided against ordering one my friend however could not resist and went the burger route. I was in more in the croque-monsieur mood and went that direction.
After a short wait our food arrived. My friends burger looked outstanding and just what you would imagine the perfect burger to look like. He loved each and every bite, if there was one complaint it might be that it was cooked a little more than he would liked. Though in fairness to the restaurant he did not request medium-rare. But even with that, he was completely satisfied. The burger came with a side of grilled potatoes. Pretty much the typical potatoes you find all around Copenhagen, so if you’ve been here you know what I am talking about.
My croque-monsieur was not traditional. This was served on a brown, hearty full of flavor crusty bread. I loved their twist on the French classic. My sandwich was served with a side of salad lightly dressed in a house made dressing.
The service here is excellent, the ambiance casual and both sutible for a light bite with friends or a nice dinner out. - 5/12/2015
An OK bar to have a drink!
We live right around the corner of this bar. It is nice and cosy. But nothing special and they don’t try to be special either. So really laidback / down to earth bar.
Just nice to hang around, to grab a beer or coffee. - 4/23/2012
Much much better than Obelix, this bar is normally very cozy and friendly.
The noise levels can get a bit high, due to bad acoustics, but overall, it’s well priced and the food is always tasty and properly prepared.
The beer list could be slightly more varied, but there’s normally at least one decent small brewery represented in bottles.
Come straight here, walk very very quickly past Cafe Obelix! - 7/2/2012
The “barbar”, besides having a totally lame name, has a pretty weak food menu and subpar coffees. I didn’t drink there so I can’t speak to their drinks, but I figured since it’s in the middle of a square and it was a nice day out that we could hang out there, sip on a coffee and have a bite to eat.
Well the coffee was so-so, the food was “meh” at best, but the real clincher was the bugs. That place was overrun by them. We couldn’t eat without getting a bug in our mouth. When we left, before finishing anything, we had to brush each other off as we were all covered with bugs. I didn’t notice this problem at any other place in town, so I don’t know what was going on. I won’t go back, even though this place is in an awesome location.
