We stayed in the newer rooms and they were wonderful.
The hotel has been beautifully restored. The spa is small but there weren’t a lot of people. The breakfast was delicious (especially the orange juice!). The grounds have trails which was nice for longer walks. The restaurant at the golf club (not sure if part o the hotel?) was delicious with great service. The horse stables (not part of hotel) was a nice touch…and we ended up meeting one of the boarders who could not have been more hospitable and friendly.
I would have given this hotel 4 stars as I tried to get another room one night as I had a nonstop cough and didn’t want to keep my friend up. But the overnight staff could not do anything about it even though there were rooms.
However, this was quickly made up the next morning when the daytime front desk was able to help me — and went out of her way to get me a doctor’s appointment. Not at all an easy task for a non-Swede with an urgent need. She went above and beyond to help me including making sure the taxi got me to the clinic. I’m very appreciative of the care!

We had a perfect journey at Kokkedal Castle! Even the sanitary context we had the chance to have a very nice diner served in our room! The breakfast was delicious with all we could dream of! The service was perfect and the nature around very charming!

It was a pleasant stay at an old castle with a lot of history. The building and surrounds are beautiful. Internally, the decor is quite dated and looking at one of the reviews dating back to 2015, I do not believe the decor has changed at all. Service was friendly however quite haphazard. We had booked as a group requiring 6 rooms. With many written communication confirming our group booking and requirements, upon arrival a few of our room reservations was dropped off. Though the staff at reception was very friendly and corrected the issue straight away. Food was okay with slow service. Rooms are located on the ground, first and second floors. There are no lifts, therefore if you have difficulties going up or down stairs, request for a ground floor room. All in all, it’s a beautiful castle in a beautiful location. With historical buildings no doubt it comes with many stories. We’ve been told spirits roam the castle, room 23 and one of the hallways.

Unfortunately we only had one night here. It was a magnificent setting. We had a room in the main castle building and everything was very comfortable. There were no tea making facilities in the room but they served us tea downstairs. It was lovely to walk around the outskirts of the moat. We sat and watched the numerous swallows flying low over the mown grass. Delicious food in the restaurant and lovely breakfast. The staff were great.

This was our first stop before heading to the south of Denmark. Bringing two small girls to this castle was an amazing experience. Kokkedal has everything you want from a true castle, it is a beautiful building surrounded by a moat and even have an armor welcoming you. The restaurant is how a classic castle restaurant should be with chandeliers and white tableclothes. The room was perfect! We had a family room with a seperate room for the kids with a canopy children bed. The main room had a beautiful canopy bed and a seating area. This hotel is great for a short stopover to experience a castle like we did. It is an exciting experience for kids or a romantic getaway. However the smell of fertilizers was very strong in the evening and the only drawback we had on this stay. We also recommend the hotel to have electricity for car charging at a lower rate, it was the highest we experienced through our trip in Denmark.
