(+) Stayed at the Barcelo Punta Umbria for a few days with the purpose of resting under good weather. The hotel is very good. Amenities are spacious, confortable an clean. Room (swimming pool view) was excellent, with a fantastic bed. The hotel was far from fully booked and so it was quiet, not too confusing to dine or to get a bed by the pool. Breakfast and dinner was rather good, with a large variety to chose from. Obviously, buffets start to be boring after a few days but there a “a la carte” restaurant which we did not try. Pool is nice with direct access to the beach (wide, not crowded). Did not use the SPA buit it did look good. Overall we were very happy with the days we spent there.
(-) Nothing really. Punta Umbria is not really very nice (may be too crowded at Summer peak) but the hotel is at the far end of the village and not really affected by it.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in August 2020 and overall I have to say that it is a very nice hotel but not at the price we paid (350 euro per night for half board – 2 adults and a four year old). The pool area is lovely and the direct on the beach access is super. The food is good, plenty of healthy options in the buffet.
Why do I think it is over priced?:
1). Bedrooms and all of the common areas are super old-fashioned. Photos on Booking etc are not representative of the reality.
2). Staff at reception – not enough! Sometimes there was only 1 person and 5 people waiting to be attended to.
3). No service of taking luggage to the bedroom, however one of the receptionists told us that they weren´t working on the sunday when we checked in….however we didnt see them working any day…as there were none ever.
4). Entertainment: the young staff for the kids entertainment were fun and professiional. I remember Javier and Adam perfectly and have only good words about them. And they did some fabulous talleres for the kids at night. The adult entertainment (external) was a bit poor – mostly boring, catered for older people, not cool at all for young people.
5). Room: no iron, no bottle opener…when we rang reception for an iron they said that due to covid they werent providing irons. this sounds a bit ridiculous as they can be wiped down after use?
6). Spa: outdated, ancient.
So overall I would say a good hotel if I was paying 250 euro per night but not 350 euro per night. iThe service is more of a 3 stay hotel, not even a 4 star hotel!

I checked in here after one night (of three I’d paid for) in an AirBnB. I was greeted warmly in reception and my room had a great view towards the sea. Bearing in mind my charge included a superb breakfast, it was much better value than my AirBnB.

Very pleasant welcome was a great start to a lovel stay. The fabulous reception area with the superb view of the sea and beach ( private walkway straight on to the beach from the hotel) just create relaxation and a great feeling of being “important” to the hotel. The food was really good with a superb choice at breakfast. The pool was very well looked after with sufficient sun beds. The room was up to a high standard with very comfortable beds and excellent bathroom facilities – the tv and other room items such as wi-fi just added to the overall comfort of the surroundings. The only disappointment was again ( our 4th visit) the limited choice of food in the pool bar – the food is not very good, particularly the mixed salad, and the prices are high for what is provided. This did not detract from a really great place for a relaxing holiday.
